Jun (“Handsome and intelligent”) is the first healthy puppy GSSD—German Shepherd Super Dog—from the controversial research labs in Wuhan. While genetically enhanced to assist special-needs humans, the government has other plans. After some quick off-book training, Jun is given as a goodwill gift to the US President.
Renamed Max, he rambunctiously grows by leaps and bounds, helping to heal a gap left by the recent assassination of the First Lady during a bitter re-election campaign. A few of the staff, however, start having strange suspicions about an eerily bright and inquisitive dog.
They’re not wrong because back in Wuhan, the scientists are creating more GSSDs possessing something unknowingly revived from long ago.
When First Daughter, Kiana, stumbles on the truth about Max, humanity’s trust in our best friend could vanish, not to mention a fragile global peace.
